Detailed Description

This is set which includes an authentic Yixing Chinese teapot which holds 22oz (651ml) and two cups will allow you to enjoy your favorite tea. This set also includes a handy stainless infuser.
Teapot is approximately - 5.75 inches high, 7.25 inches from tip of the spout to the edge of handle and 4.25 wide.
The cups are approximately - 1.75 inches high and 2.75 inches wide.

Yixing teapots and teaware are special - unglazed made from clay found only in a particular area of China - these pots are generally small, so you can taste the tea and then brew subsequent cups, enjoying each steeping - kind of like a wine tasting.

These traditional style teapots have origins dating back to the Sung Dynasty (960 - 1279). Their beautiful earthy tones and delicate beauty flourished and matured in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1573 - 1911). Along with the earliest tea shipments to Europe came distinctive red earthenware teapots, initiating a tea drinking tradition that continues today.

The soft colors come entirely from the different clays found in Yixing which is located in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, no glazes are used. The clay absorbs the delicate flavors of the tea and the teapot becomes more seasoned with each use. It is recommended that only one type of tea be used in each pot and soap not be used to clean the pot after each use. Simply rinse out the pot and allow to air dry.
